Vennessa Jean Black was born on October 21, 1966, in Tampa, Florida, to the parents of Oliver and Emma Black. On Monday, October 19, 2026 the Lord summoned for his daughter. He called Vennessa from a life of labor to eternal rest and reward.

Vennessa was a vibrant, outgoing, and loving woman whose presence could illuminate any room she entered. Known for her warm personality and willingness to speak the truth, she left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. She had a special gift for singing, and her beautiful, melodic voice could bring both joy and tears as she inspired and encouraged others through song.

Vennessa was the true definition of an overcomer. Regardless of life’s challenges, she remained strong, resilient, and determined to press forward. Above all, she cherished her family and loved them deeply, always seeking to protect their hearts from sorrow. Her strength, laughter, love, and unforgettable voice will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Vennessa was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Deacon Oliver and Deaconess Emma Black; and her sister, Mary Ann Brickhouse.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving and devoted siblings: sisters, Margaret Black Little, Mae Bennett, Versie (Douglas) Oliver, Emma Black, and Monica Anderson Black, all of Tampa, Florida; brothers, Edward Lee Black of Marianna, Florida, Oliver (Stefeny) Black of Georgia, James Black, and Elisaha (Eli) sr. (Tamika) Black of Tampa, Florida.

She also leaves her cherished nieces and nephews: Lucretia, Fevvie, Tasha and Silas Bryant, Audrey Lewis, Charles Watts, Darrian Watts, Leticia Jackson, Calvin Mitchell, Shantay Snelling, Sherika Watts, Ashley Mitchell, Andrew Black, Yasmeen Black, Arnethia Black,  Dontae Rodriguez, Deanna Revere, Tiffany Williams, Lakisha Pore, Tony Pore, Marcus Jennings, Sylvia Jennings, Earletha Black, Sheena Black, Denise (Robert) Black, Rashad and Ricky Frederick, Moriah Anderson, Junelle Black, Aalyzah Black , Donte` Black, Elisaha Black Jr, and Greg Williams.

Though her earthly voice has grown silent, the beautiful melody of her life and love will forever echo in our hearts.
