Stanford Austin Sr. was born on May 31, 1943, in St. James, Jamaica, to the late Adina Morris and Norman Austin. At the age of 19, he courageously journeyed to the United States to build a new life for himself and his family.
Stanford worked diligently as a farmer before later joining the Tampa International Airport, where he built lasting friendships and a strong work ethic. Upon retiring, he devoted his life to caring for his beloved wife, Faye Mitchell, and his family.
Known for his radiant smile, positive attitude, and unwavering determination, Stanford touched countless lives. His energy and joy were contagious, and he always encouraged those around him to embrace life with the same spirit. On August 19, 2025, Stanford entered eternal peace, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and family unity.
He leaves to cherish his memory his four sons: Cedric Carrolls Sr., Desmond Graham, Homer Carrolls, and Stanford Austin Jr.; two daughters: Adina Austin and Faye Austin; brothers: Celeb Austin and Trevor Austin; sister: Frances Austin; his best friend Kenny Hurskin and dear friend Blackboi; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews including Marcell Hill, Ira McPherson, Michelle McPherson, Lowell McPherson, Tamika Mobley, and Maurice Mobley.
A special cousin, Dennis Johnson, and a large circle of grandchildren also carry forward his memory: Maurice Frazier, Cedric Carrolls Jr., Cedranique Carrolls, Cedrick Carrolls, Quinton Carrolls, Tranyce Scanes, Tykia Carrolls, Taleah Carrolls, Cedrion Carrolls, Jocelyn Carrolls Price, Ovionce Carrolls Pringle, Daryl Carrolls Jr., Dyrell Carrolls, Lillian Lopez, Desnikki Graham, Soreya Graham, DesShayla Graham, Jasmine Graham, Keke Graham, Shakiara Carrolls, Crystara Carrolls, Sachina Carrolls, DeAnthony Austin, Ronnila Austin, Demarre Terrible, Fayonna Terrible, MoniQueen Austin, Sayanna Austin, Stanford Austin III, Josiah Williams, and Cameron Davis.
He is also remembered by a host of great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family in both the United States and Jamaica.
Family friends who remained close throughout his journey include the Pringle/Knight Family, Lillie Sturks, Felicia Godfrey, Pamela Brown & Family, the Levy/Randolph Family, Ms. Carolyn, Tina Freeman, and Ms. Cynthia Harper Salisbury.
Stanford was preceded in death by his parents, Adina Morris and Norman Austin; his siblings Frances Austin and Celeb Austin; his loving wife Faye Mitchell; his son Daryl Carrolls; his grandson Cedrion Carrolls; and his nieces Leater Hill and Cheryl Simmions.
Though he has departed this earthly life, Stanford’s legacy of strength, love, and perseverance will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
