Keino Bruce Jr. a man who never met a stranger, transitioned from this life, leaving behind a
legacy of love, laughter, hustle, and genuine connection that will endure for generations.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland by way of the union of Keino and Ollie Bruce, Keino was a light
from the very beginning. He graduated from East Bay High School before continuing his
academic journey at the historic Clark Atlanta University, where he earned his degree and
answered the call to brotherhood by pledging Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., through the
esteemed Eta Lambda Chapter in Atlanta. As an Alpha man, he lived the fraternity’s mission of
uplifting others, something that came naturally to him.
Keino’s career reflected his dynamic spirit and willingness to evolve. He began his professional
life as a teacher, shaping young minds and pouring into the next generation with the same
patience and heart he showed everyone in his life. His curiosity and love of mechanics later led
him to pursue training as an aircraft mechanic, and most recently, he thrived in sales—a natural
fit for a man who could connect with anyone and make them feel like the most important person
in the room.
But Keino was more than his job titles,he was a hustler in the truest and most admirable sense
of the word. If there was a hustle to be found, Keino would find it and work it. He wasn’t afraid of
hard work, and he had an entrepreneurial spirit that never quit. He was always thinking, always
scheming, always looking for the next opportunity to build something and provide for those he
loved.
And did Keino have dreams? Absolutely! Big, bold, audacious dreams. He would say the most
outlandish things about what he wanted to accomplish, painting pictures of a future so grand
that others might have doubted. But not Keino. He believed in every word. And he would always
stamp those dreams with his signature phrase: “I know it will happen. I can feel it.” That was
Keino, a dreamer with conviction, a man who spoke things into existence and truly believed that
the universe would meet him halfway. We know those dreams live on, and we believe they will
still come to pass through the seeds he planted in everyone who loved him.
And then there were the cars. Keino had a deep, abiding love for anything and everything
automotive, especially BMWs. Whether he was talking specs, admiring a clean build, under the
hood tinkering, or dreaming about his next ride, cars weren’t just a hobby; they were a passion.
If you wanted to find Keino on a Saturday afternoon, chances are he was washing, waxing, or
working on something with four wheels and an engine.
And let’s talk about style because Keino had it in abundance. He had a love for shoes, fashion,
and everything that looked good. His shoe collection was a point of pride, and he took care of
each pair like they were works of art. But it wasn’t just the shoes, it was the whole presentation.
Keino understood that how you showed up mattered, and he always showed up right. Always
trimmed, always fresh, always put together. Whether it was a fresh cut, a crisp outfit, or the
perfect accessory, Keino took pride in his appearance and made it look effortless. He didn’t just
walk into a room; he arrived.
But above all else, Keino loved his family. He was fiercely devoted to those he called his own,
and he made sure they knew it. He cherished his mother and father, Ollie and Keino, and looked
up to them with deep respect and gratitude. His brothers Richard, Dominic, and Kai were his
day-ones, his confidants, and his lifelong friends. The bond they shared was unbreakable, built
on years of inside jokes, late-night conversations, and the kind of love that only brothers
understand. To his aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandfather, Keino was a constant presence
showing up, checking in, and always reminding them that family came first.
To many, Keino was everyone’s “little brother” , the one who would call you up asking for advice
on life, love, and everything in between. Whether he took that advice or not was another story
entirely, but he always made you feel valued enough to ask. That was Keino. He had a way of
making you feel needed, important, and loved all in a single conversation.
He married his college sweetheart, Bianca. But the greatest love of Keino’s life was his son,
Cree. From the moment Cree came into this world, Keino’s heart belonged to him completely.
Being Cree’s father wasn’t just a role, it was his greatest pride, his deepest joy, and his highest
purpose. Keino poured everything he had into his son, determined to be the father, mentor, and
friend that Cree deserved. He dreamed big dreams for Cree, celebrated every milestone, and
made sure his son knew, without a shadow of a doubt, that he was loved beyond measure.
Every hustle, every late night, every dream Keino chased it was all for Cree. The bond between
father and son was sacred, and that love will live on in Cree forever. Keino’s legacy is not just in
the memories he left behind, it lives and breathes in his son.
Those who knew Keino knew his trademark infectious laugh, a sound that filled every room and
warmed every heart lucky enough to hear it. He possessed the biggest heart you could ever
meet, and his ability to make everyone feel seen, welcomed, and valued was his greatest gift.
Keino didn’t just make friends; he made family wherever he went.
He is survived by: his beloved son, Cree, the pride of his life and his greatest joy from his
union with Bianca, Ollie Bruce; his father, Keino Bruce; his brothers, Richard, Dominic, and Kai;
his grandparents, Reginald Atkins (Uncle Reggie) and Lynette Bruce (grandma Joyce); his
uncles, Ewart and Julian; his aunts, Yonette, Charmaine, Christine, Lezel, Marcia, Conlyn,
Michelle; and his cherished cousins, Jamal, Yohan, Charmaine, Marrissa, Bennie Jr, Sel’ah,
Halana, Hannah, Hunter, and Hudson, Okiema, Onika, Ewart, Tenesha, Stefan, Darin, Alika,
Chentella, Makala, sister in law Asia, and niece Brooklyn; Louviena Rutledge who he lovingly
called “Ma”, godparents, Trevor Best, Earlyn Jones and Nicole Griffith, along with a host of
friends, fraternity brothers, and loved ones who will carry his memory forward.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Russell Conway Bruce, Shirley Atkins, uncle
Laurel and cousin Robert, and a host of others who now welcome him home with open arms.
Keino’s laughter may no longer echo in our ears, but it will forever resonate in our hearts. His
love, his light, his hustle, and his spirit live on in every life he touched—and most of all, in his
son. He had big dreams, and we believe they will still come to fruition through the legacy he left
behind.
Until we meet again, little brother. We know it will happen. We can feel it.

My dear nephew, if you know the pain I feel knowing we will never hear your voice on the Bible Study line. The pain of knowing that I will never receive a text just to say, “I love you.” A call to have a three-hour conversation. A call for advice that I know you did the opposite. The pain of knowing you will never walk through my door again. Oh, JR, the pain of having to walk away and leave you locked up in a wall. JR, you left us with SO many memories and laughter. You left me with many unanswered questions. We loved you, and I know without a doubt, you loved us because you told us you loved us. Your cousins LOVED you!

JR, I will look for you. I will find you, JR!

With ALL my love now and forever. You will ALWAYS have a place in my heart.
