Flora Izora Mickle

April 19, 1932~July 01, 2025
Flora Mickle born April 19th,1932 and departed on July 1,  2025 at the age of 93 years old. Flora Mickle was born to John and Mae Frank Rainey in the great city of Shannon, Mississippi. The family later relocated to LaGrange, Illinois, where they had eight additional children during their union. Flora was the first of nine children born to this union. As a devout Christian, Flora was baptized at a young age at the Second Baptist Church of LaGrange, Illinois. Following her high school graduation, she moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she met and married Willis A. Mickle, a sergeant in the Marine Corps (deceased). Their union lasted 35 years. The true and only real love she had. During that time, they successfully raised five children: Lenardean (George Lewis) of Tampa, Florida; Marquita (deceased); Ronald (deceased); Phyllis (deceased); and Darrell Mickle (Jean) of Montgomery, Alabama. Flora enjoyed playing bid whist, solitaire, traveling, and visiting various casinos in Chicago. She was employed by Aon Insurance Company for 25 years as a claims adjuster until January 1992. Everyone who met Flora loved her, as she had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome. She will be deeply missed. Flora is survived by her eldest daughter, Lenardean, and her youngest son, Darrell, as well as two sisters, Edna L. Rainey and Evelyn Rainey, residing in Pinellas County, Florida. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. As stated in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, 16:14, ‘Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. Let all that you do be done in love.’

Flora Izora Mickle my grandmother was a lady of many things. What I know her best for is the love she had for her family. There are many stories to be told. One of my personal favorites is the day at the horse track. What a day it was. My granny won all this money and yes she filled my pockets too. She bought two new fur coats, and the first words that came out of her mouth to me, was when we go in this house, you keep your mouth shut, don’t you tell your granddaddy?I bought these coats. (Laugh out loud) Of course me being me i didn’t open my mouth and say a word. Those were some good times and I will always treasure each and every memory.
Rest In Heaven, mama. Love Forever and always. Curtis
