Devin K. Carter

June 16, 1999~October 07, 2025

Devin ‘Boom’ Carter was a gentle soul whose quiet strength and kind spirit touched all who knew him. Those who loved Devin will fondly remember his simple pleasures: watching movies and spending quality time on the couch with his beloved mother, enjoying his favorite shows like “Cops” and “Eviction,” and laughing at anything that brought humor into his life. Devin had a particular passion for music—especially slowed down tracks that spoke to his contemplative nature.

Devin faced significant health challenges throughout his life with remarkable dignity and grace. Despite bearing the weight of illness on his shoulders, he remained a peaceful presence, never causing problems and often choosing to step away from conflict rather than engage in it.

Before his health began to decline, Devin worked at La Segunda Bakery and Café. In his leisure time, he was an avid Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan and found peace in fishing, walking along the beach, or simply laying on the sand watching the waves. He loved “sliding through the city,” as he would say, and playing PS5 games with Tweety. When not with his mother, he could be found by his sister’s side, embodying his role as the cherished baby of the family.

Devin dedicated his life to Christ in 2018, finding strength and comfort in his faith during difficult times. Though Devin’s voice was quiet in this world, the impact of his gentle spirit speaks volumes in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

He leaves behind his loving parents, Kashondra Carter (Johnny Knighten, step-father) and William Carter (Nicole Carter); grandparents Betty Belnavis and Annette Bennett; siblings William Carter (Gekea), Jyrale Carter (Nisha), Ambreisha Carter (Jamaal Shields), and Shaniya Roberts; nephew Jyrale Carter Jr. and niece Jyriana Carter; aunts Glorietta Bennett-Spaulding, Waelynn Joseph, Twila Anderson, Ebony Codner, and numerous other aunts and uncles; cousins Ashonta Dunkley, QiiAni Williams, Triston Jamarius Bennett, Javen Clark, Tashanti Clark, Dane Lyttle, and many extended family members. He also leaves behind his special friend Andrea Codner and close friends Reggie and Dionne Hightower, and Gerald Gantt.
