Born December 13, 1949 – Passed Away October 4, 2025, Tampa, Florida
It is with great love and deep sadness that we announce the passing of a devoted father, brother, veteran, and friend. He proudly served in the United States Military for over 30 years. Though originally assigned to serve one year in Vietnam, he courageously dedicated years to the mission, exemplifying honor, commitment, and selflessness.
He had a lifelong passion for NASCAR, race cars, and all things that sparked curiosity and excitement. More than anything, he cherished time spent with his family. His warm presence, sharp wit, and unforgettable sense of humor brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him, and these qualities will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his brother, Keith Nelson of Brooksville; his daughter, Amanda Nelson of Venice, Florida; and five grandchildren: Dakota Jannus (Nelson), Nathaniel Both, Rhiannon Nelson-Pickrell, Landon Mumma, and Harper Mumma. He also leaves behind three nieces—Jessica, Meghan, and Michelle—who loved him dearly.
His legacy of strength, service, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
